S.G. #24 |
S.G. #24, 1889 20/- Green and red, an unusually
fresh mint example of this very rare stamp, featuring bright colors on
clean paper, quite well centered as well, o.g., minor h.r., very fine; this
value in these colors was withdrawn in 1893 due to a theft of 1,440 stamps,
resulting in the 1894 issue in new colors, 950 were eventually recovered
and officially destroyed, thus this stamp is of exceptional rarity in mint
condition; signed (Scott #24; $3,250.00).
