1737   ImagePERU, 1858, Medio Peso Rose Red Error (5). Type C, huge margins all around, remarkably vibrant shade, cancelled by "Callao May 22 58" circular datestamp

EXTREMELY FINE GEM. ONE OF THE FINEST EXAMPLES OF THE MEDIO PESO ERROR IN EXISTENCE.

Rather than a color error, this key stamp of the country is more correctly described as an erroneous transfer of the Medio Peso design in the lithographic stone for the One-Peseta denomination.

Ex Schatzkes and "Islander". Signed Holcombe (Image)
