1875 Re-Issue of 1869 Pictorial Issue (Scott 123-133a)
Lot Sym. Lot Description
1149   Image6c Blue, Re-Issue (126). Crisp impression on bright paper, bold strike of duplex cancel, completely sound

VERY FINE USED EXAMPLE OF THE 6-CENT 1869 PICTORIAL RE-ISSUE.

The 6c is the one of the rarest of the set in used condition. SMQ estimates that approximately 30 exist in used condition, which in our experience is a fairly accurate accounting.

With 2015 P.F. certificate (F-VF 75) (Image)

1150 og Image10c Yellow, Re-Issue (127). Original gum, vivid color and detailed impression on bright paper, choice centering with well-balanced margins, Extremely Fine, a stamp with great eye appeal, with 1988 and 2004 P.F. and 2019 P.S.E. certificates (OGph, VF 80; SMQ $1,750.00) -- only 80? We find P.S.E. consistently undergrades the asymmetrical 10c and 30c 1869 designs -- this is a solid 90+ stamp (Image)

1154   Image90c Carmine & Black, Re-Issue (132). Deep rich colors on bright paper, light strike of magenta cancel, faint corner crease at bottom right

FINE APPEARANCE. A RARE USED EXAMPLE OF THE 90-CENT 1869 PICTORIAL RE-ISSUE WITH A MAGENTA CANCEL.

SMQ estimates that approximately 40 used copies exist and our own experience confirms this estimate. Most are either off-center or have small faults and nearly all have black cancels. A Power Search review found only two other used examples with any kind of colored cancel -- also a magenta/purple cork.

Ex Anderson and Ainsworth. With 1978 and 1992 P.F. certificates. Scott Retail with no premium for the colored cancel (Image)
