VERY FINE. AN OUTSTANDING AND VERY RARE CONFEDERATE PATRIOTIC DESIGN WITH THE STAR ABOVE THE CANNON AND FLAG AND "REMEMBER SUMTER, BETHEL AND MANASSAS" SLOGAN.

Of the various Flag and Cannon Patriotic designs, this is one of the rarest -- particularly with the large five-point star above the flag. The C.S.A. catalog lists this design only with 11 stars and does not depict it with the large star above, nor mention it in the description of varieties. The 12th star here, at the upper right of the flag, is more of a blob than a star but it is prominent enough that we regard it as a 12th star. In reality, this design should have been assigned its own catalog number.

The firm of Starke & Cordozo was based in Richmond, Virginia. They produced a variety of patriotic envelopes and lettersheets during the Civil War. Although this cover does not have their imprint, the presence of the lettersheet with the Starke & Cordozo imprint suggests that that both came from them.

VERY FINE AND SCARCE EXAMPLE OF THIS 11-STAR FLAG AND CANNON CONFEDERATE PATRIOTIC DESIGN USED FROM CONFEDERATE-OCCUPIED KENTUCKY.

Of the various Flag and Cannon Patriotic designs, the 11-Star CN-2 is one of the rarest.

VERY FINE APPEARANCE. THIS IS ONE OF THE RAREST CONFEDERATE FLAG AND CANNON PATRIOTIC DESIGNS AND A REMARKABLE POST OFFICE BUSINESS USE WITHIN TEXAS.

This cannon design, while firing left like most of the others, has distinctive differences, particularly in the smoke at left and right. This is likely a unique use of this design within Texas.
