1352 ngbl Image1864, 2c Black, Laid (24). Plate 7-A, Types I-X, block of 17, the complete two vertical rows are from two separate impressions (Westerberg Positions 2/4/6/8/10 at left and Positions 1/3/5/7/9 at right), the additional three stamps at left are Positions 1/3/5, the additional four stamps at right are Positions 4/6/8/10, unused (no gum), ample to large margins, few light creases

VERY FINE AND RARE LARGE MULTIPLE OF THE 1864 2-CENT NUMERAL ON LAID PAPER.

There is an interesting plate feature found on this multiple printed from two separate impressions of Plate 7-A. Position 6 from Plate 7-A often shows the missing period after "Postage," though some examples show the period. On this multiple the first Position 6 shows a faint period, but on the second Position 6 there is no period. This was perhaps a transition sheet between the presence and absence of the period.

Ex Tows, Twigg-Smith and Aall. Scott Retail as three blocks and five singles (Image)
