Lot Sym. Lot Description

VERY FINE AND CHOICE. A GORGEOUS EXAMPLE OF THE 15-CENT 1880 AMERICAN BANK NOTE COMPANY SPECIAL PRINTING. ONLY 36 ARE RECORDED IN OUR CENSUS.

Our recent review of the records of the Philatelic Foundation found only 36 certified examples of Scott 199. This is a difficult Special Printing to obtain, especially in such choice condition.

308° og Image90c Dull Carmine, Special Printing (202). Without gum as issued, bright color, balanced margins on three sides, centered a bit to right but perfs well clear

VERY FINE. APPROXIMATELY 41 EXAMPLES OF THE 90-CENT 1880 AMERICAN BANK NOTE COMPANY SPECIAL PRINTINGS ARE KNOWN TO EXIST. THIS IS A RARE SOUND AND WELL-CENTERED EXAMPLE.

Our recently updated census records for Scott 202 contain approximately 41 certified copies. The 90c 1880 Special Printing on soft paper is notorious for its condition. Thins or more serious faults affect about half of the known examples.

Census No. 201-UNC-17 (unpublished). Ex Klein, T. Charlton Henry and Hansen. "W.H.C." backstamp of Warren H. Colson. With 1975 and 2008 P.F. certificates (Image)

310 nh Image15c Red Orange (189). Mint N.H., deep rich color on bright paper, almost mathematically perfect centering, long and full perforations all around

EXTREMELY FINE GEM. A MAGNIFICENT MINT NEVER-HINGED EXAMPLE OF THE 15-CENT 1879 AMERICAN BANK NOTE COMPANY ISSUE, GRADED SUPERB 98 BY P.S.E.

This issue is often found in Mint N.H. condition, as several sheets have been broken in the past ten years. However, most of the stamps in these sheets are somewhat off-center, and examples such as this are very rare.

With 2013 P.S.E. certificate (Superb 98, SMQ $9,000.00). Only one has graded higher to date (at 100, offered in our Whitman sale), and only two others share this grade. This statistic has not changed since 2009. (Image)
