VERY FINE. A RARE EXAMPLE OF THE ONE-PENNY MULREADY, USED ON THE FIRST DAY OF ISSUE. ESPECIALLY DESIRABLE WITH THE DATE SO CLEARLY STRUCK ON THE FRONT OF THE LETTERSHEET -- HIGHLY SUITABLE FOR DISPLAY.

The datestamp on most First Day covers was usually struck on the back, making display difficult. The example offered here, with a clear strike of the May 6, 1840 circular datestamp, is a wonderful exhibition piece. SG from £18,000 (Image)
