Two (2) covers postmarked Nov 9, 1931 in Highfield, franked with C1-3 plus regular issues, one day prior to official issue of the airmails. One cover flown by Imperial Airways to Athens, Greece (special Greek airmail reception cachet); the other by combined Canada/U.S. service to Port au Prince, Haiti. Only recorded NZ cover flown on this acceptance to Haiti via Canadian/U.S.services. Franking with C1-3 pre-FD scarce.

1284 NZAMC No. 58 imageNew Zealand, 1931 (Nov. 11-12) NZ Christmas Airmail via ANA Sydney-London Special Flight (NZAMC 58). Two (2) covers, one postmarked Christchurch Nov 11, 1931 and the other Wellington Nov 12, forwarded to Sydney for flight of "Southern Sun" to London. Plane crashed in Malaya and mail was flown from there to London in "Southern Star" by Kingsford-Smith. Jusqu'a markings cancel airmail in London. Covers forwarded by surface to final destination in India and Sweden. Red box cachets on back. Outstanding covers worth far more than catalogue price.

First, to Wooster, Ohio (1932), with postal stamp "Not paid for United States Air Mail Service", second to Kent, U.K. (1935) with postal stamp "Paid for United States Air Mail Service only", and two airmail covers addressed to England and to Switzerland, held for additional postage in Taupo (1934) and Kopeopeo (1935).

1287 NZAMC No. 82a, 82b, 94 imageNew Zealand, 1932-33 First NZ Acceptances Persion Gulf on New Imperial Airways Route (NZAMC 82a, 82b, 94). Nov 18, 1932 and Mar 31, 1933. Mail left NZ on Nov 18 bound for service to Bahrein and Muscat on the newly redirected Imperial Airways Karachi-London route. Two (2) covers postmarked in Wellington on the 18th, one addressed to Bahrein and one to Sharja, both with cachet. Additionally, third cover left on Mar 31 for first NZ acceptance to Kuwait on expanded route. Only 21 pieces accepted in NZ for Muscat, 33 for Bahrein, 39 for Kuwait.

On June 30, 1932 airmail was finally accepted direct from NZ to points in Africa via Imperial Airways. Four (4) covers, one to Kenya and the others to So. 1296 NZAMC No. 90b imageNew Zealand, 1933 (Mar. 2) First NZ Acceptance for Australia-Salamaua Airmail Service (NZAMC 90b). On Mar 2, 1933 mail was accepted in Wellington for the first time for the Port-Moresby to Salamaua, New Guinea, Guinea Airways service. This cover, postmarked in Wellington on the 2nd and Sydney on the 7th, was flown on the inaugural acceptance flight. Only 36 covers accepted for first flight. Grossly undercatalogued.

1297 NZAMC No. 95a, 95d, var. imageNew Zealand, 1933 (May) Inter-Island and Ferrymans Strike Emergency Air Flights Across Cook Strait (NZAMC 95a, 95d, var.). A shipping strike between the North and South Islands led to mail-carrying emergency flights in early May, 1933 between Wellington and Blenheim. Three (3) covers, two on Wellington to Blenheim and Blenheim to Wellington flights of 4th and one on an uncatalogued Blenheim to Wellington flight of 3rd (2-inch tear on bottom).

1299 NZAMC No. 97c, 97d, 97f imageNew Zealand, 1933 (Sep. 2) First NZ Acceptances via Hart Air Services and Matthews Aviation in Australia (NZAMC 97c, 97d, 97f). On Sep 2, 1933, NZ airmail was first accepted for sercice by Hart Air Services Melbourne to Whitemark and to Launceston. On Nov 18 NZ airmail was accepted for the Matthews Aviation service Melbourne to Currie. Three covers, one flown on each inaugural. Only 25 NZ covers to Whitemark, 20 to Launceston, 5 to Currie.

Six (6) covers, four flown all the way to London, two transferred to Southern Africa route in Cairo and then one flown to Sudan and one to Northern Rhodesia.
