623 /o/   imageMexico, Large Numeral Issue Balance, 1886-95. Of a Gold Medal exhibit, group of 19 pristine and rare covers, 3 fronts, one postcard and 460+ stamps, covers represent 19 different stamps and could each be a single lot in their own right, 1c registered wrapper front from Oaxaca which was underpaid but is genuine, 5 very attractive covers with stamps from the scarce 1886 Lilac issue (3c, 4c, 6c and 12c), a cover from Santa Ines Ahuatempan, a cover from Magdalena with two 5c neatly cut to shape, a registered cover to Galveston with four 6c Lilac stamps and a Colima Provisional, largest unused multiple of the 12c lilac (block of 10) Sc#181 ($250), rare Mazapil cover with three 3c +1c, two beautiful registered fronts from Chilpancingo and from Ciudad Valles with markings in corners, both underpaid, cover with a rare 5c rate to Norway (rate seldom used probably for subsidized ships), charming small registered cover from Mineral del Monte with the "Heart" pre-stamp marking on all four corners, registered post card to Germany with the 12c vermillion, most of the stamps are in full sheets of 100: 4c Red perf 5 ½ x 6 Sc#234 ($4,000), 12c Vermillion Sc#219 ($1,400), 5c Blue Sc#216 and10c Vermillion Sc#218 with a "1" plate number, n.h. block of 20c violet Sc#220A ($3,200 as hinged), a strip of 3 10c imperf, and a vertical and a horizontal 10c imperf between Sc#218b and 218c ($350).

624 /o   Mexico, Mazatlan Stock, 1856-1914. Extensive array of issues housed in two volumes; 1856 first issues well represented to the 8r (x2) including some nice full town cancels on 1r pairs, with many other town strikes, similar 1861 second issues including a couple 8r values, eagles including scarce ½r 236-1864 cons x2 (only 200 sent), again with many high values present, Full Face Hidalgos with strong representation of all issues including some multiples, following issues in similar fashion with some somewhat strong duplication to be expected; condition well above the norm with many better items throughout, inspection and evaluation highly recommended.

Housed in two Scott albums; starting with useful Medallion and Numeral issues, Mulitas including high values with 10p mint, better perf varieties, etc., 1899 issue with 5p mint, good Sonora issues, other Revolutionary issues quite strong with good coat of arms and overprint issues, later issues with better including Scott 585 (cat $425), 716a (cat $350, with cert), 727A used (cat $650, with cert), 883s (cat $500, with cert), 795A used (cat $60), etc., back-of-the-book with strong airmails highlighted by #C93A x2 mint, C198a n.h. Very solid collection of 1,300+ Mexican n.h. mint commemorative stamps in 3 hingeless Safe albums meticulously annotated in German, no Exporta issue, most stamps have extra copies to show varieties (e.g. UV varieties, plate numbers, fluorescence, types of paper, errors or watermarks), some errors are: 2 blocks in the 1974 Exportar stamp, Filatelia para la Paz souvenir sheet with color error, 50+ souvenir sheets included and 4 booklets of Sc#1698.

Collection of 59 stamps with different errors including 4 different types of tablet printing error of the 5p 1950 regular issue (only one sheet was known which was broken in the 1990’s) Sc # 865v, 1956 souvenir sheet with one stamp displaced (Sc# C234a var), Included are text omitted, black color omitted, displacement of inks, bottom data printed on top, 1968 Olympics unissued essay, irregular inking, colors omitted, blotted letters, 1979 Souvenir sheets with text displaced or entirely omitted, missing letters, N.P. with missing dots, etc., Several items are in blocks to show the error (normal stamps not counted).

With emphasis in district overprints, a study of this issue with 150+ stamps with district overprints including singles, used and unused, multiples and many denominations from: Veracruz, Apam, Cd. Victoria, Chiapas, Saltillo, Tuxpam, Tacubaya, Tampico, Matamoros, Tula, Queretaro, Guanajuato, Zamora, etc., one strip of 3 different denominations (10c, 25c, 35c) from Victoria has a MEPSI cert, two 60c with the consignment numbers printed on back (Sc $250), Veracruz Provisional 25c stamp, and sheets of 2c, 5c, 10c, as well as very large multiples of 12c, 20c, 25c, 50c and 100c, set of the 1879 not issued, including bogus cancellations.
