Collection of Mint Germany and Area, 1920s-2005, with a few thousand stamps housed in 4 springback albums and 2 stockbooks. The lot begins with a an album containing an extensive collection of 400 mint 3rd Reich se-tenant and tête-bêche pairs, along with 180 mint se-tenant pairs and strips from Bohemia and Moravia, with a spot check indicating a few pairs and strips cataloguing from $5 to $10. The lot continues with roughly 200 mint Germany stamps, ranging from 1980 to 2005, two albums with roughly 350 mint never hinged DDR blocks and plate blocks, ranging from 1956 to 1990. The lot concludes with two albums containing mint Bohemia and Moravia noting blocks, plate blocks (some with more than one plate number), and sheets, ranging from 1939 to 1940, along with mint Czechoslovakia, and a few covers, from 1939 to 1945. We estimate 95% completeness, with owner's older Scott catalogue value in excess of $2,000. The lot continues with a stockbook of used DDR from 1946 to 1974, appearing complete in period, noting c.d.s and c.t.o. postmarks, with a few stamps and partial sets cataloguing from $10 to $25. A few pages have stamps with retail prices included, ranging from $5 to $20, leaving the potential for finds by the dedicated collector or dealer looking for stock. One album contains a nice mint and used parallel collection of Danzig. The other two albums hold an accumulation of German-related items such as a large accumulation of Bavaria and Wurttemberg stamps, items from other German States: Heligoland, Schleswig-Holstein, Saxony, Prussia, Thurn & Taxis, North German Confederation and other places such as Saar, German Offices Abroad, Allenstein, Upper Silesia, Marieweder and Memel. Telegraph, railway and revenue stamps from various areas are also included. Large Mint and Used Collection of 1945 Post-War Local and Private Issues, of German, French and Czech areas. This collection includes issues from a large number of different towns as listed in the Michel catalogue. Rather than making a long list, we chose to scan the complete lot on 20 pages. We noted Glauchau Michel 1-19 (c.v. 100 Euros), Netzschkau-Reinhenbak Mi 1-11, either mint or used (850€), also a letter using 4 copies of number 1 and a single number 6; mnh Meissen souvenir sheet 1 (300€), and Wittenberg souvenir sheets 1 and 2 (290€). Issues from Herrnhut, Saulgau, Austria and Czechoslovakia were also noted among many others. None of the items we checked were signed. Fine to very fine overall. Hodge Podge of Interesting and Valuable Germany and Area Material, all in 102 cards, dealer stock cards and in glassines, with a good variety of material, including Germany, States, Occupations, etc. The lot is in three sections: first is uncatalogued and contains a few early high denominations, a few dozen perfins, etc.; the second is a zip lock bag labeled "Occupation" which has been catalogued by the owner at $18,500; and the third contains a variety of German material, this one catalogued by the owner at $17,200. A quick review revealed many stamps which were enthusiastically over-valued by the owner because of perceived shade or other varieties, but there is still lots of value within for the person willing to sort through it. Germany Collection in Four Binders, the first binder containing a clean stock of used commemoratives 1995-2011 with many nice c.d.s. cancels and an owner's c.v. of $2,677. The second binder contains a collection by topic using modern used German stamps, plus a collection of used issues on 29 pages, roughly 1960s to 2011. The third binder contains a collection of German varieties on about 15 pages, with mostly fly-speck and shade varieties, but also two mint blocks of British and US Zone stamps with inverted overprints (owner's c.v. $3,443), as well as a collection of used stamps and souvenir sheets, which appears close to complete from 1970 to 2010 (owner's c.v. $5,676). The fourth binder contains a mint and used Germany collection 1870 to 1969, quite extensive with shades, perforations, watermarks and varieties, with 38 Imperial Eagle issues (mint and used), loads of Germania and Inflation issues and more, including some Occupations, etc. (this binder catalogued by owner at $50,900). Some of the owner's valuations are somewhat enthusiastic, still a very useful collection which we recommend viewing in person to better appreciate its contents. Collection of Germany and Berlin Mint Booklet and Booklet Panes, 1945-1998, on Vario pages. We counted 48 complete booklets and 15 panes from Germany and 12 Berlin booklets. Most booklets are from the 1964 Castles series, the 1971 Accident Prevention series or the 1977 Historical Buildings series. However, we noted a 1955 Heuss 10pf booklet (Michel # MH6a, c.v. 550€) and 4 MNH panes from the same set (60€ each). Also noted a Berlin booklet from the 1977 Castle series (MH Idd, 150€). The second album 1963-1969 holds a mixture of mint and used and is close to 90% complete. The third album 1970-1975 only holds MNH stamps and is only missing 10 stamps. A few pages of official stamps complete the lot but were not included in the valuation. Total Michel owner's catalogue value is 2,360€, though early issues have not been checked for watermark varieties and were all valued as the lowest-priced variety. Very fine overall.
