Eastern Europe Stock of Mint and Used in Twelve Red Boxes, all neatly sorted in roughly 9,000 dealer 102 cards with Scott numbers and with the majority of cards having retail prices shown (roughly 85% of the cards). The lot includes three red boxes each of Russia, Poland and Hungary, and a red box each of Czechoslovakia, Romania, and Greece, with material ranging from the 1880s to 2010. Duplication generally ranges from 1 to 10, and we estimate there to be 15% mint stamps and 85% used stamps. A spot check indicated the majority of stamps retail $2 and under, noting some stamps and a few sets retailing $5 and up. We note a few faults with the early material. Generally fine to very fine. Large Used and Mint Group of Eastern Europe from Classics to the 1990s, with collections and accumulations on older album pages, in stockbooks, on Vario and other stock pages and in glassines / envelopes, etc. This is a large lot, basically filling two wine boxes. There is a fairly high proportion of mint never hinged stamps, including part sheets of early Poland, such as Scott # O1-O11 (x90 c.v. $1,260 total), more than 70 souvenir sheets and miniature panes from 1970s to the 2000s Hungary alone, plus well over 1,000 mint stamps from 1990s Ukraine in sheets and part sheet, with many of these commemoratives. There are also collections of Czechoslovakia, Hungary and Romania on pages. We noted numerous Baltic stamps, with some from the inter-war years, including 10 bundles of used stamps from Lithuania. The group has many thousands of stamps in all plus hundreds of souvenir sheets & miniature panes and has excellent variety. Some of the material is already priced for sale, with many, many sets and singles in the $2 to $10 range of catalogue value. Overall fine to very fine. Countries of Western Europe Collections, each in it's own older Minkus album, with France, Germany, Italy, San Marino, Scandinavia & the Baltic countries, Spain, Portugal and Vatican City. Most countries include stamps from classics to the late 1970s or early 1980s and are less than half complete. The collections tend to be more used than mint, except in the cases of San Marino and Vatican City where the reverse is true. A smattering of occupied areas, some colonies and offices abroad are found at the backs of some of the collections. Also included is an Italy collection in a two-volume Davo album with slipcovers, with pages from 1945 to 1990, the second Davo album has a collection from 1970 to 1990 of mint never hinged which is about 75% complete in period. Belgium, France and Luxembourg in Numerous Stockbooks, with a total of 16 stockbooks of varying age / condition / number of pages, all rather filled with predominantly used stamps, arranged non-overlapping. The stamps range from classics to about the 1990s with some material reaching into the 2000s. While duplicated, there is still good variety, with some stamps ranging to the $5 to $10 range of catalogue value. The Belgium portion includes many railway stamps, France has numerous Famous French People issues. We noted a stockbook of mint never hinged France which contains many modern multiples. There is also a smattering of French Colonies. The stockbooks constitute a good deal of the value of this lot. We estimate there to be about 5,000 stamps from Belgium, 6,000 from France and 400 from Luxembourg. Overall fine to very fine. Collection of Mostly Used Finland, 1866 to 1980s, in black mounts on album pages, this is a specialized collection with many varieties not listed in Scott (owner used Facit and Norma catalogues numbers). Starts off with 7 first Coat of Arms issues, noting an unused Scott #8 (c.v. $600), followed by pages showing a very specialized collection of the 1875-1881 issue with many useful items such as Scott #s 16 (x3 different, $400 minimum each), 24 (x2, $120 each), 29e ($250), same for the 1889-1892 issues, the 1891 to 1916 Imperial Arms of Russia issues, the 1917-30 Arms of the Republic issues noting 102a ($450). the 1930-46 definitive issues, 1954-59 definitives (incl. booklet multiples) and others, plus good back of the book including Parcel stamps set (Q1-Q5, $75), the first two Bus stamp issues (with shades, Q6-Q13, $50+), group of Military stamps as well as 2 pages of Eastern Karelia occupation stamps.
