534 PC/CVR   imageOld Time Original Montréal Correspondence, 1897 to 1904, consisting of about 175 stationery covers and roughly 500 stationery cards, all addressed to the same business in Montréal "Messrs. P. S. Ross & Sons. / Auditors Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada". This lot is offered as received, unpicked for postmarks, etc., and we did note many interesting and useful postmarks including Bickerdike and International machines, street c.d.s., carrier markings, etc. Some of the better postmarks we encountered during a quick overview include two Union Jack flag cancels, a St Polycarpe QUE squared circle (RF55) with an inverted day slug, an "N.P.B." carrier datestamp, two different Montréal 1902 experimental machine postmarks, etc. We did not check all of the flag machine cancels for better dates, etc. Most of the postcards were mailed from Montréal, but the envelopes were mailed from all over the country, including a few small BC towns, etc. There is also much interest in the backs of the postcards, as all of them are pre-printed with advertising, meetings, etc. A very interesting lot for the postmark enthusiast, as well as Montréal postal historians, online resellers, etc. Well worth a close look, as our online photos only show a few of the better items we encountered. Overall nice quality.
