1361 O/og/nh 1/699 imageExtensive Collection of Mint and Used in a Parliament Album, 1851 to 1976, a strong, mostly NH collection which starts with used #s 1, 2, 4, 4d, 5, 7, 8, 9, 12, 15, 18, 19, 20, complete used Large Queens, complete mint/used Small Queens and complete mint/used Jubilees. The collection is then essentially complete mint to the end (noting only 6 used stamps), with all coils present in pairs, and we note that the mint stamps are all NH (incl. the Small Queens) except for some exceptions which are noted on the pages. Immediately following the Scroll issue we assumed the rest of the collection to be all NH. A very clean and fine to very fine collection, with a huge catalogue value, inspection is recommended to better appreciate the quality and value here. Catalogue value given is for up to 1950 only, and we scanned the first 25 pages online. 1362 O/og/nh 1/906 imageMint and Used Collection in Two Jarrett Albums, 1851 to 1980, with all stamps in black mounts. Quite an extensive collection which starts off used only, with a fine #1, #s 5 and 13 (both quite faulty), a #4xii with fake perforations to appear as a #12 (with recent pink VGG cert.), complete Cents issues (no 16 but extra shades of most values), complete basic set of Large Queens, Small Queens are mint and used and show all values plus shades and some early printings. Jubilees are complete mint to the $1 and also includes a used $2. The rest of the collection is essentially complete mint for basic issues from the QV Leafs and on (noted about 4 missing lower value stamps in the 1940s). The back of the book section includes complete mint Airmails and Special Delivery, mint and used Registration issues to the 8c, as well as a selection of mint coil singles and pairs, from the Admirals to the War issue, and there is a scattering of Provinces issues at the end. The early mint issues are either without gum or hinged (incl. some with heavy hinging), then becomes a mix of mint hinged and never hinged from the Admirals to the 1950s, then mostly NH to the end. Some early mint issues have small hinge thins, else overall a fine to very fine collection with a very high catalogue value, should easily be worth out estimate. Also includes a handful of glassines and stock cards containing mostly used issues, with good value, including Admirals, Québecs, etc. Photos show only some of the better pages, try to view it in person to better appreciate. 1364 O/og/nh 4/600 imageMint Collection in a Hingeless Lighthouse Album, 1852 to 1977, starts off with a nice used #4, selection of used Cents issues, mint and used Large Queens including a mint hinged #30 with Greene certificate, basic mint set of Small Queens, and essentially mint never hinged to the end, and quite complete, missing only$1 to $5 Jubilees (the $1 is present, but used), plus a few Numerals, Edwards and Admirals. We note that most coils are present in single format. Back of the book appears complete for Airmails, complete G and OHMS overprints, selection of Dues, Admiral War Tax and Special Delivery. Many of the early stamps have gum problems, including glazing and regumming, and we have not checked every stamp, but those we checked that had problems have a pencil notation below them. The album itself smells of tobacco, still the stamps have a very high catalogue value and are overall fine to very fine. See online scans for an idea of some of the better pages. Plan on viewing this one in person to better appreciate the value involved. This lot has a little bit of everything starting with Scott #'s: 4 (2 margins), 14-19 (missing #16), 22/55. From #66 onward to 1979 is 90% complete. We note used coils in singles, pairs and strips and a mixture of mint and used booklet panes from the Admirals to King George VI issues. This lot also includes interesting items such as: #203i (Broken X) variety (Unitrade c.v $40); mint never hinged #254 plate 31 LL cracked plate (Unitrade c.v. $75). We counted 14 four hole O.H.M.S. stamps including: #09-226 (Unitrade c.v. $60), #09-245 (Unitrade c.v. $60). Early Newfoundland consists of Scott #s 18/40 (total c.v. $958). The catalogue value was counted up to 1951 only, and we note owner's notations on Elizabethan stamps indicating different papers. tagging, etc. We highly recommend in-person viewing to get a full appreciation of the contents. We note the odd small fault in the early material. 1371 O/og/nh 25/324 imageCollection of Mint Stamps, 1870s to 1953, with hundreds of stamps as singles, pairs, strips and blocks, all housed in 13 Vario-style double-sided black stock sheets. The collections starts with two used large Queens (3c and 6c, the only used in the collection) and 5 Small Queens (1 inscription strip of four ½c and a 5c), some Jubilees (including a block of 25 of the 3c, with some separation), Leafs and Numerals, partial Edward set and a full set of Québecs. There are 2 basic sets of Admirals, including a pair of all three imperforate issues (c.v. $175) and a strip of three 2c + 1c War Tax with Type A lathework (#MR4, Unitrade c.v. $240). We saw a fine, hinged 50c Bluenose and $1 Parliament. From there onwards, most sets are complete for basic issues and some nice blocks of four exist also, plus the owner included and identified some Unitrade-listed varieties here and there (paste-up pairs, "Cockeyed King", "Broken X", "Weeping Princess", coil jump strips, etc.) There is oxidation on some of the earlier issues (these not counted), but otherwise this is a clean and fine or better collection that could serve as a sound entry into Canadian collecting, or to fill gaps in an existing collection.
