Empire Numeral Cover to England, Re-Directed to Italy with Italian Postage Due Stamps, mailed from Toronto (JUN.28 Die C Exposition flag machine cancel) to London, England (JUL.6 receiver), re-directed to Milan, Italy on JUL.8 (London despatch on
front) with Milan and Rome backstamps. The 2c QV Numeral franking was sufficient for the travel to London, but the Italian Post Office affixed 15c (equivalent to 3c) in postage due stamps to charge the addressee the difference for a 5c letter rate to
Italy. Under U.P.U. regulations, double-deficiency charges did not apply to letters correctly prepaid to their original destinations. A few minor wrinkles, still an interesting cover with Milan Grand Hotel advertising handstamp on back. (Scan 1)
