 impressive and attractive collection of mint and used beginning with 1869 inverted surcharge on the 40cts used (#3a, $925), the 1891s with #8 used, #10-11 mint, 12 used, followed by 1895 complete with #14-22 with parallel mint and used on several denominations, then the 1896 navigation and commerce types to 5fr (signed) again often with parallel mint and used with varieties present, then the 1897 postage dues complete mint, etc., what follows is a spectacular range of turn of the century with errors galore, including dramatic shifting of the overprints on a pair of #48, as well as some very scarce 1902 different types, the 1904s complete mint and high values parallel used, the 1908s complete again parallel mint and used to high values, 1912s complete mint,  the 1921s virtually complete, virtual completion through to the 1930s ending in the 1940s with the airmails, postage dues, back of the book neatly integrated into the collection including valuable "colis postaux" types.  A delightful old time collection and a joy to view and describe.

Highlights include a particularly interesting range of East Germany back of the book, particularly the officials with the different types, papers and errors well worth investigating. Also a good representation of West Germany including lots of mint from the late 1940s onwards and also very good postally used material, again from the good period the late 1940s/early 1950s, overall with huge retail potential, view to appreciate.
