Guadeloupe is a particually desirable country because such covers are found with French General Colony stamps. But in addition the Crowned-circle handstamps are on very rare occasions found in blue from Guadeloupe. Usually these markings were in red and occasionally in black. Our research indicates that there are hardly any other British Agency post offices from the many around the world that used blue ink, Guadeloupe being one of only two or three agencies where it is found, and even in Guadeloupe it is of the utmost rarity. The well struck example offered here is believed to be one of only two examples recorded; a marvelous Guadeloupe rarity of the British Agency; ex-Levett. (imagea) (Image) Est. $5,000-7,500
