108 c Sieger #4 var. imageSieger #4 var., 1912 Flight of the "Viktoria Luise" (LZ 11), multicolor DELAG card of the Zeppelin over a town in the valley, an unusual posting that apparently flew on "Viktoria Luise" for the flight to Frankfurt on October 5, 1912 with the airship on-board pmk. of that date tying a 5pf Green (trace of perf. toning), however the card also bears a Ty. I violet on-board cachet of the "Schwaben" of 23 Jun. 1912, this date and airship is confirmed by the manuscript at left, apparently this card was intended to go to Frankfurt on this earlier flight, but since there was no "Schwaben" flight on that date it was held over for a flight over three months later, very fine; a choice and most interesting usage (Sieger €400+; Michel #11Bg). Luftschiffahrt." that was applied to some of the cards by the HAPAG company, attractive and very fine; 5,000 of the combined two shades of this scarce Zeppelin vignette were issued, however the ones used on flown cards are very few; an extremely rare pioneer Zeppelin flight; signed Arthur Falk and accompanied by his 1994 SIA certificate (Sieger €3,850; Michel #17Db). P." overprint, tied to the grey brown card for the Rhein-Main flights along with 5pf Green by the special and scarcer Darmstadt pmk. of June 22, 1912, card bears number 3185 handstamp on the reverse which was privately applied on Darmstadt cards, the special air mail stamp is fresh and attractive, very fine; this overprinted value and its 20pf companion were only used on June 22nd and 23rd, only 3,000 of the 10pf were overprinted and very few were used, many being saved mint, making this an extremely rare flown card from Darmstadt; signed Grabowski BPP with his 1976 certificate as well as being accompanied by 1994 Simon BPP certificate (Sieger €3,750).
