1112 P 649P1a-50P1a image#649P1a-50P1a, 2c-5c Aeronautics, large die proofs on wove paper, die sunk on full size cards measuring 202x152mm, a nicely matched set of approved proofs dated December 5, 1928 and each signed by Harry S. New, Postmaster General, this being the set presented to President Calvin Coolidge, each has a couple of very faint toning spots in the India, well away from the design, very fine; Harry New presented to President Coolidge a set of die proofs for all the stamps that were issued during the Harding-Coolidge presidencies, this set was part of that presentation; a rare and desirable set of air post related proofs; despite the premium assigned to large die proofs on India, it is our opinion that this set only comes on wove paper, this and the set offered in the next lot were both previously described in the auction catalogs when Mr. Livingston purchased them as being on India, with the $2,500.00 catalog value quoted and he paid that full catalog for each, however both sets are on wove and it is doubtful that they even exist on India paper; C.A.
