Lot Symbol CatNo. Lot Description CV or Estimate
1201 og 12f image#12f, 10c Blue, perforated, an amazing mint single of this scarce officially perforated 12 1/2 issue, being perfectly centered within gigantic margins that are virtually unheard of on this stamp, the vast majority are poorly centered and with very uneven margins as this attempt at perforation was quite unsuccessful, full o.g., extremely fine; an incredibly rare gem example of this scarce issue; 2003 PSE certificate. (Image) $350.00

SOLD for $950.00

Closing..Nov-05, 05:00 PM
1205 c 1 image#1, 2c Rose, horizontal strip of three, bright color, tied to cover by magenta "Canal Zone/La Boca/Jul 2 1904" c.d.s., and similar Cristobal c.d.s. of the same date, cover with small fault at far left not affecting stamps or markings, a very fine first issue cover; signed J. C. Perry. (Image) $1,500.00

Closing..Nov-05, 05:00 PM
1206 O 1 var. image#1 var., 2c Rose, with "Panama" 14 3/4 to 15mm long, position 53, appears unused (and even has part o.g.) but lightly cancelled at bottom right, well centered, bright color, slightly pulled perf. at right, otherwise very fine; only six positions in a sheet had this variety, thus a total of only 156 were printed (CZSG #1.1b). (Image) $600.00

SOLD for $400.00
Closing..Nov-05, 05:00 PM
1207 og 1a var. image#1a var., 2c Rose, inverted "Canal Zone" overprint, position 96 from the bottom of the sheet, having the additional variety of "Panama" 14 3/4 to 15mm long, natural s.e. at bottom, quite well centered, strong color, slightly disturbed o.g., light h.r., two tiny thin spots, otherwise very fine; only one sheet of 100 of the inverted overprints was issued and since this "Panama" variety occurs on only six positions in the sheet, only six examples could have been printed with this combination of varieties and half of those come from the bottom row having natural straight edges as does this example; signed J.C. Perry (CZSG #1a.1b). (Image) $950.00+

SOLD for $1,800.00
Closing..Nov-05, 05:00 PM
1208 og 1, 1b image#1b, 2c Rose, double "Canal Zone" overprint, variety is left stamp in a horizontal mint pair, one strike is strong and a second complete strike is light and displaced about 1mm to the left, fresh with rich color, full o.g., light h.r., centered a bit to the top right, still a very fine example of this rare overprint error; this example illustrates how this variety legitimately came about, being a handstamp the overprinting device had to be re-inked, the diversity in intensity of the impressions on this issue indicate that the overprint was applied to several stamps before being re-inked, in this case one too many impressions was made and the first impression applied to this stamp was considered too light (the other stamp in this pair evidences this because it is light also), thus the canceller was re-inked and applied again, the clerk trying to apply it over the first impression so that it would not be noticed, Plass indicates that only four examples have been documented. (Image) $3,050.00

SOLD for $4,825.00
Closing..Nov-05, 05:00 PM
1209 O 1d image#1d, 2c Rose, "Panama" reading up and down, position 100 showing a small portion of the guide line arrow at right, being one of two positions in the sheet showing this variety, natural s.e. at bottom, used with light straight line cancel, fresh with brilliant color, well centered, very fine and choice; a rare and undervalued value, as a total of only 50 examples of this variety were printed and far less exist today. (Image) $650.00

SOLD for $700.00
Closing..Nov-05, 05:00 PM
1210 ogbl 2 var. image#2 var., 5c Blue, colon between right "PANAMA" and bar, the variety being the top left stamp in a right margin imprint block of four (positions 49-50/59-60), part o.g., fine; a very scarce variety, with only 156 examples printed, and quite desirable in this block format confirming the position; each signed J.C. Perry. (Image) $1,275.00+

SOLD for $375.00
Closing..Nov-05, 05:00 PM

(Image) Est. 300-400

SOLD for $575.00
Closing..Nov-05, 05:00 PM
1218 O 9d image#9d, 1c Green, "Canal Zone" double, used single showing two distinct overprints, one displaced to the left as is always found implying only one sheet was printed thus, lightly canceled by Empire c.d.s., broken corner perf. at bottom left but still attached, otherwise very fine; Plass notes that only 20 examples have been recorded, about half of which are used. (Image) $1,500.00
