2021 c H&G #1/F4 H&G #1/F4, 1881-1997 Postal stationery collection/accumulation consisting of over 400 mint and used items, not quite half are used, most are from the period of the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century though there are 60 used air letter sheets and 20 used air formular air sheets from a more modern period, we note 89 registry envelopes with a nice range of types and sizes, sixteen are used, the cards, envelopes and newspaper wrappers are similarly collected, we also note a couple of early unused formular cards with adhesives and ten items of various types with "Specimen" overprints, condition varies with some age toning to earlier items, however most are fine-very fine and a very useful lot for the collector of postal stationery. 2026 O 27 image#27, 1888 "2d." surcharge in green on 2p Lilac, magnificently well centered example of this unusually surcharged value, the violet color retains it brightness and cancelled by a neat ms. "X", extremely fine; only one sheet of this was produced, apparently as a color trial for the surcharge, but then put into stock and used at Vryburg, because all were used it does not exist mint and far less than the original issuance are known today; signed Rendon (S.G. #23c; £3,250). 2028 O 54a image#54a, 1888 1/- Green with "Pr tectorate" overprint, first "o" omitted, position R5/12, a used example with light c.d.s. cancel, well centered, accompanying certificate notes that the green color is faded, however this is a quite normal phenomenon on used stamps in this particular color, as simply soaking to remove the stamp for collecting often caused this, still very fine; this variety is found on all the shilling values, but it is extremely rare as this is only one position in the reduced setting of 84, and apparently it did not fail to print all the time; 1977 Philatelic Federation of Southern Africa certificate (S.G. #46a; £3,000).
