Lot Symbol CatNo. Lot Description CV or Estimate
1941 og 21c image#21c, 1863 1/- Blue error of color, mint example of this very rare stamp that was printed in error but never placed into use, the few copies that exist were marked with a pen and circulated by the Barbados Colonial Secretary, this mark was removed on most as is the case with this stamp which also has the usual toning, most also have clipped perforations on one side, on this one that is limited to just two perfs. at top right, this stamp has also been repaired at bottom to lessen ink marks or staining and possibly fill light thins, nevertheless it retains nearly all of its original gum, despite the condition problems, which all examples have to a greater or lesser degree, this is still a highly collectable example of an extremely rare stamp of which only nine examples are known to exist; 1974 PF certificate (S.G. #34a; £13,000). 1945 ng S.G. #62 imageS.G. #62, 1873 6p Orange vermilion, perf. 11 to 12, wmk. large star, unused right sheet-margin horizontal strip of four, lovely bright color, scissors trimmed at top close to the design, otherwise well centered within the strip and fresh; this value is analogous to the (1/2p) Grass green and (1p) Blue on unwatermarked paper with these same perforations (S.G. #36, 37), they were all prepared in small quantities but unissued, as noted in Stanley Gibbons there are only eight examples of this value known, contained in two strips of four, they were in fact a block of eight one time, this being the top strip with the other strip being a sheet margin strip from the row directly below this, which had been previously thought to be the only strip known, as far as we know that strip is yet intact, so there are, in fact, only two items of this issue to be had; a great rarity of Barbados; 1990 RPS certificate (Scott #41 var.; not listed in this perforation).
