SOLD for $250.00
Closing..Jun-27, 01:00 PM
46 c image1890 Inbound Russian paid reply postal card, from Odessa and of greatest interest as this is addressed to the Island of Anegada, Odessa c.d.s. cancels the card and an additional 1k Orange adhesive, New York and St. Kitts transits plus "Tortola/FE 24 90" with inverted index "C", Type 10, used as a receiving marking, very fine; interestingly there was no post office on Anegada until late 1906, so it is doubtful that this ever reached Anegada since it was was addressed to the post office there, the correspondent was inquiring about purchasing postage stamps and such requests would be more properly handled at the main post office in Road Town where it did arrive, but nonetheless this has to be the earliest postal item sent to Anegada. SOLD for $725.00
