188 ogPB 94 image#94, 3c Red, "F" grill, an exceedingly rare full bottom margin imprint and plate "No. 52" block of eight, being one of only three recorded complete plate number blocks of eight, and one of only two outside of an institution, extraordinarily well centered throughout, rather fresh, strong rich color, some light gum soaking at top of center vertical row of perforations where some sensible reinforcement occurred, couple of minor light creases and a small tear in sheet selvage, these flaws are of little importance considering this plate block's extreme rarity (actually the better of the two in private hands); one of the most important plate blocks of the 19th century; Chapin census #305; ex-Chapin.
