Wine Stamps
Lot Symbol CatNo. Lot Description CV or Estimate
1406 O RE107B image#RE107B, $40.00 Yellow green, a used example of this extremely rare Wine stamp of which less than 15 are thought to exist, and virtually every one of them is faulty to some degree, with full adjoining tablet at right which has been creased as usual between the stamp and the tablet (although quite lightly), very small and neat violet handstamp cancel, couple of usual staple holes in the tablet only, wonderfully fresh and bright, well centered, the only flaw found on this remarkable copy is a faint diagonal crease, otherwise extremely fine for this and certainly among the finest quality examples known; 1997 PF certificate. (Image) 3,250.00

SOLD for $4,750.00
Closing..Oct-19, 11:30 AM
1407 O RE107C image#RE107C, $50.00 Yellow green, a most impressive used example of this sought-after stamp, being in a quality which places it among the very finest known, as this copy features not only a full adjoining tablet at right which is unfolded, but it is also free of all the flaws and staining so often associated with these large Wine stamps, wonderfully bright and fresh, with huge balanced margins all around, very light central strike of a small violet handstamp cancel, couple of ever-present staple holes which have been expertly filled in to preserve this extraordinary stamp's overall extremely fine condition; a major Wine stamp rarity in this condition. (Image) 2,000.00

SOLD for $1,700.00
Closing..Oct-19, 11:30 AM
1408 O RE107D image#RE107D, $100.00 Yellow green, an extraordinary quality used example, with full adjoining tablet at right which is unfolded, completely devoid of the flaws so often seen on these, perfect central light strike of a violet handstamp cancel, huge balanced margins, bright color and paper, couple of usual staple holes which have been expertly filled in, extremely fine and especially scarce thus. (Image) 375.00

SOLD for $450.00
Closing..Oct-19, 11:30 AM
1409 O RE114 image#RE114, 3 1/2c Green and black, an extraordinarily handsome used example of this highly important Wine stamp rarity of which only five or six copies are thought to exist, flawlessly centered within very large margins, strong colors on fresh paper, neat black handstamp cancel dated December 16, 1949, some slight creasing (primarily a horizontal crease) of little importance considering the immense rarity of this stamp, extremely fine appearance; only the second example of this world-class rarity we have ever offered; 1991 PF certificate; ex-Wyer. (Image) 12,500.00

SOLD for $12,500.00
Closing..Oct-19, 11:30 AM
1410 O RE132 image#RE132, 28c Green and black, an especially select used example of this seldom offered stamp, being extraordinarily well centered with very large margins, deep rich colors on bright paper, lightly cancelled by a violet handstamp dated 1943, minor and unobtrusive crease/pinch at left, otherwise extremely fine for this rarity. (Image) 1,500.00

SOLD for $1,900.00
Closing..Oct-19, 11:30 AM
1411 O RE168 image#RE168, $900.00 Yellow green and black, the example offered here is only the second example of this rarity we have ever offered, being used (as are all known examples), with very faint traces of a cancel, exceptionally well centered, strong colors, there are a few small creases/wrinkles and some surface rubbing from usage, none of these flaws affect this stamp's very fine appearance, nor are they terribly consequential considering we know of no sound example that exists; the only other copy we offered was in January 2000 as part of Larry Lyon's collection, his copy similarly centered had some light soiling and several thinned areas, nevertheless it realized $3,850.00. (Image) 4,000.00

SOLD for $4,250.00
Closing..Oct-19, 11:30 AM
1412 O RE170 image#RE170, $2,000.00 Yellow green and black, used, very light handstamped cancel, well centered, rich colors, several usage faults which are endemic to this (and other) rare Wine stamps, still a very presentable example of this seldom seen stamp. (Image) 2,250.00

SOLD for $1,900.00
Closing..Oct-19, 11:30 AM
1413 O RE177 image#RE177, $6.00 Yellow green and black, used, uncommonly fresh for this difficult stamp, strong rich colors, well centered, faintly cancelled, with couple of usual staple holes and a small marginal thin, very fine appearance. (Image) 500.00

SOLD for $260.00
Closing..Oct-19, 11:30 AM
1414 O RE182 image#RE182, $30.00 Yellow green and black, used, faintly cancelled (if at all), brilliantly fresh, vibrant colors on bright paper, incredibly well centered amid huge margins, trivial corner crease at bottom left, otherwise extremely fine; easily one of the finest examples of this key value we have seen. (Image) 750.00

SOLD for $1,050.00
Closing..Oct-19, 11:30 AM

1416 O RE204 image#RE204, $9.60 Yellow green and black, a rather attractive appearing example of this extremely rare Wine stamp, with particularly rich colors and being exceptionally well centered, black slightly blurred handstamp cancel, some flaws which are almost always associated with this rarity, including a horizontal crease and some thinning, nevertheless of very fine appearance; less than twenty copies are known. (Image) 4,500.00

SOLD for $3,000.00
Closing..Oct-19, 11:30 AM
1417 ogO RE1/203 #RE1/203, Cordials, Wines, Etc. and Wine stamps collection balance of 202 different mint and used stamps, being a remarkably comprehensive collection of these elusive and always challenging stamps, missing generally only the rarest items for completion, with several better items throughout the collection, while there are faults to be expected on many of these, fortunately a number of the higher catalog stamps tend to be in much nicer quality (i.e. #RE79, RE83, RE169, RE187, RE194 and RE196c), there are two very rare stamps which have not been counted as they are quite faulty and have been repaired (#RE107A and #RE172, cataloging $1,750.00 and $800.00 respectively), overall a fine collection that is a perfect basis upon which to build. 4,200.00+

SOLD for $2,400.00
