319 og 248a image#248a, 2c Pink, Ty. I, vertical pair, imperforate horizontally, a choice example of this very rare classic perforation error, beautifully rich color, full o.g., lightly hinged, very fine; an enormously rare error of which only three or four pairs are thought to exist. There has been some confusion created by both the Scott catalog, as well as the Philatelic Foundation, concerning the correct identification of this error pair and that of the listing found in the Scott catalog for #250c, the 2c Carmine, Ty. I, vertical pair, imperforate horizontally. Over the years various auction descriptions have identified the few existing error pairs in either the Pink or Carmine colors, creating the impression that this error exists on both stamps. It is now believed that this error exists only in the Pink shade (formerly Scott #248a and none exist in the Carmine shade, which is the only listing currently in the Scott catalog as #250c. This pair is accompanied by a 1999 PF certificate as a #250c, as well as a newly re-issued 2002 PF certificate correcting the identification to #248a. (Image) 4,500.00
