45 c U.S. Post Offices in China 19th century postal history lot of twenty covers, most are Bank Note issues, includes seven franked with a 10c Brown Bank Note with "U.S. Postal Agcy Shanghai" c.d.s. postmark, plus two 5c Blue with the same cancels, five franked with 5c Garfield with "U.S. Postal Agency/Shanghai" in violet oval, one of these additionally franked with five 1c Blue. one with 5c Small Bank Note and two with 5c Bureau issue, also an 1861 10c Green (#68) with Yokohama c.d.s., a large part of cover franked with an amazing block of twenty, strip of three and a pair of the 2c Brown Bank Note with Yokohama c.d.s. tying the large block, plus a stampless cover from the U.S. Consulate General at Shanghai to Ningpo, with blue "Consulate General/Shanghai, China/Mar 20 1894" c.d.s. on reverse, small faults on some, all with fine-very fine appearance; a interesting lot of scarce covers. 47 c U.S. Postal Offices in China extensive 20th century postal history collection of about 90 covers or cards, 1902-1922, most are franked with Washington-Franklin heads, however we do note at least a dozen with the 1902 Issue, a varied range of covers showing the different types of duplex postmarks, plus some censored, picture postcards, a 2c Parcel Post (#Q2) usage, a very rare usage of the 10c Parcel Postage Due (#JQ4) cancelled on arrival from Shanghai to San Francisco, combination usages with Chinese or Philippine stamps, illustrated advertising, business corner cards, some inbound usages to Shanghai (including a few from the late 19th century) showing U.S. Postal Agency receiving postmarks, mostly fine-very fine; an unusually comprehensive lot, certainly one of the largest groups offered at public auction in a long time. 48 c U.S. Postal Offices in China specialized collection of registered covers, 34 items in all (27 covers, 7 fronts), 1900-1922, includes three covers franked with Bureau issues, each with a rare registry label, later issues show a wide range of registry markings, including various straightline, several boxed (many with additional registry markings), "Per First Steamer/Registered", "Received/Registered Mail" in circle, some ms. registered markings, foreign usages include Holland (three), Switzerland and England, and of course many of the receiving cities applied registry backstamps, mainly fine or better; an extraordinary lot for the U.S. Postal Offices in China specialist or a collector of registered mail.
