1573   Tristan da Cunha photo and social history collection of dozens of items, largely photographs, engravings, news clippings, etc. which document the island's history, inhabitants and social life, 1869-1963, begins with a lovely 1869 multicolored book plate depicting the Settlement of Edinburgh in 1867, there are many photographs, some of which are rare early original photos of the island, including three executed by Rev. C.P. Lawrence which were sold to members of the island's Garrison and for security purposes strict instructions were given that these photographs were not to be included in mail sent from the island, all three with tombstone naval censor handstamps on back (it is believed only twelve such censored photos are known), photos of ships that regularly visited the island are included as well, plus many others, fine-very fine; perfect auxiliary material for an exhibitor or specialist.
