5c Indian Red (Scott 28A). Vertical strip of three, beautiful colour in the unmistakable deep Indian Red shade, tied by "New Orleans La. Jan. 10, 1859" circular date stamp and red "New York Paid 12 19 Jan." credit date stamp on cover to
Nantes, France. Natural straight edge a right, the upper stamp has one short perf, the stamp in the middle of the strip is in sound condition and the bottom stamp has at left some blunted perfs, otherwise a rare and nice cover from a newly
discovered small correspondence to Nantes.
Scott for an off cover strip of three: 13'000 USD Note: the majority of the Indian Red covers originate from New Orleans and several bear postmarks of December 1858 to January 1859. (Image 1)
