3040 imageHungarian Post Offices in Romania 1867/69: Lot ten covers incl. three covers with pairs or two examples of the 5 kr. red to pay the reduced rate from Temesvar to Ibraila or Bucharest, respectively; four covers with the 10 kr. rate in the opposite direction from Bucharest to Vienna, an unpaid cover from Bucharest to the Hungarian part of the monarchy, where the receiver had to pay 10 kr. postage plus 5 kr. zutaxe; two covers with 3 + 15 kr. in the so called Lloyd rate to Italy. Also two telegram formulars of the P.O. in Bucharest and two DDSG receipts from the office in Ibraila, and few stationery envelopes. An interesting group from this short period, the balance of the Dr. Geza Homonnay collection. 3042 imageAsia Minor 1869 (March 11): Cover from the Dardanelles to Trieste, showing internal docketing by the recipient "Dardanelli 11 Marzo 1869", bearing a combination franking of 1864 Arms 2 s. yellow perf. 9½, a well embossed strip of three and 1867 Coarse whiskers 10 s. blue, fresh and fine examples with good perforation, tied by indistinct "IN DEN DARDANELLEN 12 / 3" cds (Tranmer fig. 4) in black, reverse with oval TRIEST arrival datestamp (March 19). The spectacular franking including the 2 soldi adhesive overpays the 15 soldi Lloyd rate by one soldo, a horizontal file fold well away from the franking was internally stabilized, the address partially redrawn, nevertheless an exceptional cover from the very rare postal office. "P.D." handstamp in black alongside, reverse with BRINDISI transit and LIVORNO arrival (May 28) cds's. Horizontal and vertical file folds well away from the franking, nevertheless an exceptionally rare usage of this multiple. Cert. E. Diena (1980) Ferchenbauer = € 6'500. Lot includes 1867 pair 5 s. red and 1878 fine whiskers 3 s. green two strips of three on piece, cancelled with this consular cds.rnNote: Franked although not endorsed for a triple rate cover sent via Varna & Vienna to Italy with three times 10 soldi for the Levant and three times 15 soldi for Italy. Transported with the next steamer via Brindisi, presumably only in the second rate, which would had to be franked with twice 15 soldi for the Lloyd and twice 8 soldi for Italy.
