STRAITS SETTLEMENTS - 'BMA/MALAYA' Overprints: 1c black with the Overprint in Magenta Ink SG 1ab, a couple of short perfs at the base, indistinct 1945 cds, Cat £1400. With a normal mint stamp for comparison. (2)
POSTAL HISTORY: 1911 usage of Indo-China 'Jeune Fille Annamite' picture postcard to Shanghai, originally franked with Indo-China 5c but not posted until arrival in Malaya where Straits Settlements KEVII 3c red affixed alongside & tied by 'SINGAPORE' cds, 'SHANGHAI/DE7/11/BR.P.O.' arrival cds, minor blemishes.
POSTAL HISTORY: 1930 (Feb 10) airmail cover to Java with Straits Settlements KGV 2c 5c & 30c tied by 'REGISTERED/SINGAPORE' cds, early blue 'P&T Mail 25' airmail etiquette & blue 'R' label on the face, carried by KNILM with 'WELTEVREDEN/11.2.30' arrival b/s of the next day, couple of minor blemishes. [The KNILM service to Singapore commenced in early-1930, primarily to provide local connections for mail arriving by KLM from Europe; due to various delays to its experimental flights, the regular KLM service did not commence until late-1930]
POSTAL HISTORY: 1941 (July 20) cover endorsed "On Active Service" from an officer with the Royal Indian Army Service Corps airmail to Hong Kong with Kedah Sultan 25c tied by Indian 'F.P.O./No.36' cds used at Sungei Patani (Kedah), a couple of minor blemishes. [By -.2.1942, this cds had moved with the Indian 11th Infantry Division to Singapore, where it was lost or destroyed during the Japanese invasion]
POSTAL HISTORY: 1947 registered airmail to Australia endorsed "Express Delivery" with combination franking North Borneo Pictorials 25c 'BMA' Overprint and Sarawak 15c 'BMA' Overprint pair tied by 'JESSELTON/-3DE47/NORTH BORNEO' cds, boxed 'R/JESSELTON' cachet alongside, 'SINGAPORE/ 6DE/1947' transit b/s where manuscript "AV2" in blue crayon applied to face for onwards air transmission, 'TUMUT/12DE47' arrival b/s, very minor blemishes.
