315 c 38,F3a image38,F3a: 5¢ olive green plus 8¢ bright blue Registered Letter Stamp, both tied by matching fancy corks to REGISTERED cover from Ottawa 21 AP '76 to Manchester, ENGLAND with faint red London receiver at top left of cover, stamps pay the 5¢ postage and 8¢ registration preferred rate (in effect 1 October 1875 to 31 July 1878), a couple of negligible tiny tears at top of 5¢ stamp and top backflap has been added, still a genuine and appealing 'proper in-period usage' of the 8¢ Registered Letter Stamp (the third earliest such known), with 2000 Greene Foundation certificate stating '... one or more backflaps have been added ... the stamps belong to the front and are genuinely used'. 320 c 38 image38: 5¢ slate green pair tied by violet cork cancels to cover sent sometime in early September '87 from Economy, NS (matching coloured partially-missing cds dispatch at bottom) to Point-de-Galle, CEYLON via London 23 SP and Colombo 13 OC, with 14 OC receiver on back, re-directed the same day back to Colombo and received the 15 OC, the cover was roughly opened at bottom and has suffered greatly from its travels with what appears to be fire, water and tape damage/stains visible on front and back, an extremely rare Foreign Destination cover, full of character.
