262 c 37 imageUS 2¢ green Stationery printed Wells, Fargo & Co. envelope, originally sent from San Francisco 14 AU 1879 (violet datestamp on reverse) to New Westminster, BC, transferred to Barnard's Express where a 3¢ orange red Small Queen was added to pay postage and tied by oval BARNARD'S EXPRESS handstamp, with an additional levy of 10¢ (oval COLLECT handstamp) being charged on delivery, letter was marked manuscript 'Refused' and returned to Sender, hint of negligible light cover edge age-stains, an exceedingly rare usage of the the 3¢ and a unique SHOWPIECE.
