1941 Italian Occupation of Crete, October 9 postcard from Crete to Germany franked on dispatch with Italy 75c and Italian Dodecanese 50c (2), tied in transit by Italian field post office 23, located at Athens, paying the 75c concessionary rate for a postcard sent abroad and 1L airmail fee (from Athens to Munich); an exceptionally rare Italy-Italian Dodecanese mixed franking used in Crete after September 1941, when the 550 field post office of the Dodecanese have left Crete (such mixed frankings were already scarce before September). 1941 Italian Occupation of Continental Greece, August 22 censored postcard sent to Leghorn and dated onboard an Italian battleship in the Port of Piraeus, franked with Italian Dodecanese 20c, exceptionally used and accepted in Continental Greece as the sender was a sailor of a battleship previously stationed in the Dodecanese, tied by "Mariser-Pireo/Sede sprovvista di francobolli" handstamp denoting that no stamps were available and used by the Italians in The Piraeus; a very rare usage. 1943 Italian Occupation of the Ionian Islands, express cover to Athens correctly franked on reverse with overprinted Ionian Islands 25c, 50c pair and airmail 50c pair, tied by dotted "64" rhomboid handstamps, which were scarcely used and applied on rural mail; the 64 rural mail depended on the Karoussades P.O., with corresponding c.d.s. on front, and arrival on back.
