British Guiana, Word of Warning, 1862, single sheet dated 9 Ap '62 from Georgetown, British Guiana from Deputy Postmaster General E T E Dalton which reads, "Several parties being in the habit of affixing fractions of Postage Stamps to their letters by using 1/3 of the 12¢ or 1/2 of the 8¢ stamps for the prepayment of the single local letter when the postage is 4¢. N notice is hereby given that all letters so improperly stamped will be treated as unpaid letters and taxed double the ordinary postage and newspapers _______ to be forwarded in that illegal manner will be detained."; fascinating piece; tears and foxing, Very Good to Fine.
