 GB.QUEEN VICTORIA - 1841 1D RED-BROWN IMPERFS, AN IMPORTANT & UNREPEATABLE HOLDING OF PLATED EXAMPLES. 6 large stock books of used 1841 1d red imperfs arranged by plate number, then by sheet position and then also divided between very
fine 'A' Grade (4 margins) and fine 'B' Grade (chiefly with 3 margins) examples - each plate has a page for each grade (we estimate these grades are represented equally across the entire collection, perhaps more in favour of 'A' grades but it alters
considerably between plates). We see around 450 examples from the 'black plates' to 11, then in the region of 2500 examples with Maltese Cross cancellations between plates 12 and 42, the rest to plate 172. The plating work was undertaken by experts,
most notably David Luthwaite. An outstanding holding formed by a long-retired dealer over decades. We estimate that the total catalogue value is in the region of £600,000 (approx 12,000 stamps)(Image

 GB.QUEEN VICTORIA - 1841 PENNY RED IMPERFS - A REMARKABLE COLLECTION of very fine used examples arranged & expertly annotated by plate number from 12 to 177 in 3 volumes of the SG Plymouth album. This outstanding collection includes a
totally complete set of plate numbers (we double- checked the most elusive, including plates 174, 175, 176 and 177) and perhaps less than 20 stamps out of 339 might have margins that touch the design. Quality is the distinctive feature of this
collection, combined as it is with additional stamps for most plates often with plating characteristics noted or additional interest in the cancellations (we note 93 with Maltese Crosses, incl distinctive types, numbers in cross, etc). Note plate 176
which has 4 margins also has a couple of short cuts into the stamp at right, plate 177 has 4 margins and is without faults. A wonderful collection (339 plated stamps)(Image
