1866 - Italian Kingdom 30c brown and 60c light lilac, DLR London printing, on triple rate registered letter from "CHIOGGIA 26/10" to Firenze, then forwarded to Venezia. On the front austrian postmark "RACCOMANDATA 26/10", extremely rare on Italian stamps. First known date on Italian stamps after the liberation of Chioggia, that happened on October 15. Cert. 1858/63 - Revenue stamps for letters paired with parcels, 2kr pink and black and ordinary mail 2s yellow 2nd type, 2nd issue, canceled with different postmarks in "PADOVA 8/3" on printed matter to Verona. Very likely the revenue stamp was not considered valid and the letter was franked with the 2s yellow, canceled on the same day. The 2kr is extremely rare on letter. Handstamp Asinelli, Cert. 1859 - stampless cover from "CASTIGLIONE DELLE STIVIERE 26 GIU." (59) to Vidauban, charged upon arrival "8" tenths, following the french austrian convention of 1858. Letter probably posted by a French military; two days earlier, the battles of Solferino and San Martino were fought in the area, where the Austrian army was defeated by Franco-Piedmont troops.
