1001 c Image1859, 2c Light Blue, Bluish White (13). VERY FINE APPEARANCE. A RARE EXAMPLE OF THE 1859 2-CENT BLUE NUMERAL ISSUE TIED ON COVER BY THE RED "POSTAGE PAID" OVAL.

Gregory does not report numbers of covers known for the various Numeral Issues, but various sources have reported between 10 and 25 covers with the 1859 2c Blue (all settings). Very few covers have the stamp tied by the red Honolulu datestamp or red "POSTAGE PAID" oval.

VERY FINE. A RARE EXAMPLE OF THE 1859 2-CENT DARK BLUE ON GRAYISH WHITE NUMERAL ISSUE USED ON COVER.

Used on cover, the distinctive 2c Dark Blue on Grayish White (Scott 13a) is much rarer than the Light Blue on Bluish (Scott 13), but this is not reflected by Scott Catalogue value -- both catalogue $12,500.00.
