1738 c ImageBOLIVIA, 1867, 5c Yellow Green (1). Used in combination with 1868 5c Black Revenue stamp, both tied by Sucre postmark on 1872 (datelined March 24) folded letter to Valparaiso, Chile, blue forwarder's handstamp

VERY FINE. A RARE AND EYE-APPEALING USE OF THE 5-CENT CONDOR WITH A 5-CENT REVENUE STAMP.

In 1868, a series of stamps with an allegorical figure of Justice were issued for revenue purposes. The three lowest values (5c, 10c and 50c) were valid for postage. Their use as postage stamps is rare and seems to be restricted to the early 1870s due to shortages of postage stamps. This is the only example we have seen with used with a Condor stamp. Even the remarkable Ortiz-Patino collection did not have such an example.
