EXTREMELY FINE. A GORGEOUS PAIR OF THE 3-CENT 1861 ISSUE IMPERFORATE HORIZONTALLY. ESPECIALLY DESIRABLE WITH THE TOP SHEET MARGIN.
The number of 3c 1861's released imperforate horizontally is not known, but they are very rare in any form. The multiples come with and without original gum. The last examples we offered were in our 2009 sale of the Alan Whitman collection.
Ex Grunin. With 1971 P.F. certificate. (Image)
EXTREMELY FINE CENTERING. A BEAUTIFUL UNUSED EXAMPLE OF THE 1861 5-CENT BUFF THAT WOULD MAKE THE IDEAL ACQUISITION FOR A COLLECTOR CONCERNED ABOUT CENTERING AND APPEARANCE, RATHER THAN GUM.
With 1971 P.F. certificate (Image)
EXTREMELY FINE GEM USED EXAMPLE OF THE 1861 5-CENT BROWN YELLOW WITH AN ATTRACTIVE LIGHTLY-STRUCK RED GRID CANCELLATION.
Unlike many of the 5c 1861's offered today, this wonderful example of the Brown Yellow retains its original color, having been kept in a dark vault for more than a half century. (Image)
EXTREMELY FINE GEM. WITHOUT QUESTION ONE OF THE FINEST USED EXAMPLES OF THE 1861 5-CENT BROWN YELLOW IN EXISTENCE. A REMARKABLE STAMP AND TRULY RARE IN THIS SUPERB CONDITION.
The town datestamp on this 5c Brown Yellow is very unusual -- most examples come with cancellations from the larger post offices (Boston, New York, etc.) (Image)
