210 imageChina, Extensive Boxer Rebellion Postal History Collection, 1900-01, in a springback album of exhibition-worthy homemade quadrille pages, fully annotated throughout; while several German Feldpost cards or covers are present, the overwhelming majority of the material is from US Army Lieutenant Frank Lang to his wife in Portland, ME, following his progress from Manila (with US Philippines frankings), through various posts and positions in China, followed by several letters from colleagues, surgeons or friends after his wounding near Yung-Tsun; 22 covers or cards in total, including a post card (in German) with tinted image of "Execution of Boxer Leaders" dated May 1901, numerous Marine Schiffspost cancels, and even one illustrated cover (Lang correspondence) franked by a 10s Japanese Offices in China single; 11 letters are also present, fully transcribed (messages on postal cards similarly presented); various frankings, military and auxiliary markings, etc.; accompanied by photocopy of Kugel's "Allied Intervention in the Boxer Uprising" article from the July-August 1997 Collectors Club Philatelist; a phenomenal holding impossible to duplicate, with rich material for the historian, Fine to Very Fine, fully imaged online.
