1857, 5¢ red brown, type I (Scott 28), rich color and sharp proof-like impression on bright paper, exceptionally
well-centered, only a couple short perfs at top left, unused without gum, still Extremely Fine and extremely scarce, especially in this superior quality. The perforated 5¢ Red Brown (Scott 28) stamps were the first 5¢ perforated stamps to
be printed and sent to the post offices. Thus, an estimated 10-15 with original gum, and maybe 20-30 unused without gum, are believed to exist. Most have flaws or are off-center, with 2012 P.F. certificate. Scott $15,000. (Image) (Image2)
