1921 10pa-30pa Small Royal Star Reissue (Scott 217-219., 219F), an exceptional, beautifully presented, and profusely annotated collection presented on 36 exhibition-type pages. At first glance, this selection might be considered duplicates or lesser items compared to those in the primary exhibit collection listed elsewhere in this sale, but this is most definitely not the case. 1923 2pa Kabul Interurban Issue, what started as a grand experiment but which never got off the ground, this stamp, unique to Afghan philately, was created in 1923 for use on mail on the interurban railway between Kabul and the new modern government center at Darul Aman. The project never materialized; hence, the stamps were never officially issued. Mounted on an annotated exhibit page are a very rare booklet pane of four and a unique booklet with seven panes (one pane missing), both items being ex-Divall—fascinating stamps that are well documented in Patterson, Uyehara & Dietrich, etc., fully imaged online. Magnificent Study of the 1939 Airmail Set and its 1948 Reissue (Scott C1-C3), an extraordinary, scholarly, researched, and annotated collection completely covering the issue, all displayed on 40 exhibit pages. The initial issue study begins with a set of rare UPU "AMOSTRA" Specimen overprints, followed by subsequent sections on perforation analysis, imperforates, color changes, and other related topics. Notable are two complete sets of sheets of #C1-C3, identified reference forgeries, imperforates, minor size and design flaws. The later 1940-47 printings are represented by additional shade and perforation varieties, sheets of the 10af and 20af values, scarce imperforate margin pairs (only 1,000 sets issued), along with imperforate horizontal pair single frankings on three Airmail covers addressed to "Mr. Lazar" or "Centenary Stamp Co" in NY City. The 1948 issue in singles (each signed Kessler) and in imperforate blocks (each signed Sanabria). 1909-18 The First Habibullah Parcel Post Issues Collection (Scott Q1-Q10), an incomparable collection, often mounted on exhibit pages with the owner's updated exhibition pages included to reflect new acquisitions or information, and highly specialized throughout with highlights galore, including (in no particular order) a very rare two-stamp franking on parcel front (very few of which have survived, according to Patterson). Also noted are many complete sheets, including #Q1, Q3 (2 shades), Q6, Q7 (3 shades), Q9 (2 shades), plus the rare imperforate sheets #Q1a and Q2a (2). Numerous multiples present with #Q9 left margin block of ten horizontally imperforate. Undoubtedly, the crown jewels of this fabulous collection are the two illustrated and footnoted items shown in the Scott catalog between the 1909 and 1916 sets. It describes an undenominated Official Parcel Post stamp prepared, but not issued, of two types, of which a "pair, imperforate between" and "a complete sheet of two…perforated on all sides" are known. 1894-98, Typographed, Group of Eight Unusual Die Proofs on card (Scott 1a//10a vars.), 1.) 5kr red, type III 30 x 35mm); 2.) 1kr black, two impressions on one side of a card with 4 impressions of the 2kr yellow on the other, both sides with a single defacing line; 3.) 2kr in red defaced with a blue crayon stroke on one side, an undefaced 10kr dark blue on the other; 4.) ½kr black, two impressions on one side, blue crayon not touching either, and two more ½kr plus a 2kr red on the other, defaced; 5.) 2kr yellow on one side, 1kr gray on the other, both defaced; 6.) 20kr in black with a black manuscript "X"; 7.) 20k olive green, two impressions on one side and two impressions of the 20kr in black, both sides defaced with a single line; and 8.) 25kr, two impressions in different shades of violet on one side and a single 2kr in red on the other, both sides with a single defacing line; all eight are said to be previously unknown, five of them have expert certificates, Fine to Very Fine. 1879-94, Lithographed, 1kr gray, perf 10½ (Scott 2), the unique block of 64, fresh, well centered and quite solid with only minor hinge reinforcement (at least 40 stamps are never hinged), contains partial watermark, "E I T U N G", in rows 5/6, Very Fine, Ex-Marakovic. According to the accompanying certificate, this is the largest recorded perf 10½ multiple of this value., with a 2005 Soecknick certificate.

MILIT:POST 13, MOSTAR, 15/8 94", on a complete newspaper wrapper sent to Linz, Austria and backstamped there on 19 Aug; remarkably clean and well preserved, Extremely Fine. An exceedingly rare legitimate use of an invalidated 1Kr violet gray, with a 2022 A. Goller certificate.
