LotNo. Symbol CatNo. Lot Description
75   imageOfficials Specimen Collection of 61 stamps, a unique opportunity, consisting of Nos. O1S, O2S, O5S, O7S-O16S, O23S, O25Sb, O25S-O32S, O34S, O35S, O36S, O39S, O42S, O47S-O67S, O57b, O72S, O76S, O80S-O83S, O87S, O90S-O92S, without gum as issued, some small faults as always, in mounts on 6 Scott album pages, generally Fine to Very Fine, Just prior to the listings of the Official Specimen Stamps, the Scott catalog notes, "Special printings of Official stamps were made in 1875 at the time the other Reprints, Re-Issues and Special Printings were issued. They are ungummed….these stamps were sometimes (but not always) cut apart with scissors…." Fully imaged online., The numbers sold of the rarest issues are as follows: O23S (75), O27S-O34S (150-178), O42S (107), O49S (91), O50S (87), O51S (177), O52S-O56S (81-93), O63S-O67S (245-280), O76S (198), O80S (99), O81S (74), O82S (72), O90S-O92S (104-106). It is also known that even though the quantities of some issues are higher, very few have been reported. For example, Scott O7S and O8S were issued in quantities of 370 & 352, respectively, maybe 15 of each have appeared on the market. We can't research all 61 stamps, but it should be understood that this is an extremely rare opportunity to acquire many of these at one time, which exist in the marketplace at much lower quantities than the numbers sold in 1875, O91S with 2016 P.F. certificate and is ex Inman.
