2002   image19th Century Old-Time Collection - Part 1, 1847-1890, in a Scott National album. This collector truly possessed the "old time collector" mentality, searching for every variety or shade of each issue. The typical format is the first page will contain the normal stamps, but on subsequent unprinted pages, you might discover dozens of a single stamp with different shades, cancels, proofs or specimens, covers, or whatever may have captured the collectors eye. As a bonus, the collector included an auction catalog of his favorite stamp collection, the hardbound 1993 Christie's Ishikawa collection. Unfortunately, as you typically see with old time collections, condition is occasionally sacrificed. Highlights include; 1 (15 singles and two singles on cover and another cover franked with two stamps and genuine PF certificate), 2 on cover and PF certificate, 2P3, two pages of 1¢ 1851-57 imperforate issue containing 23 singles, three pairs, two strips of three and a couple covers, 10 pair on cover with APS certificate, three pages of 3¢ 1851-57 imperforate issue containing a few covers, one used with a local stamp, a couple pairs, a couple strips of three, one of which has a steamship cancel, 12, 14-15, two pages of 10¢ 1851-57 imperforate issue of mixed types containing a couple covers, a pair, a strip of three and two singles, 17 (7), six pages of 1¢ 1857-61 perforate issue of mixed types containing 20 with Doporto certificate, 20 on folded circular, 23, Montbas certificate incorrectly identifying a Scott 18, but the stamp is actually #20, five singles on covers, one strip of three on cover, 13 singles, pair and strip of three, page of 25/25A with two covers and four singles, 26/26A two pages of covers and a half page of singles, page of Scott 32 or 33 with eight singles and singles on two covers, page of 10c type V with a lovely mixed franking with 5c #29 and single on cover with lovely ocean mail cancel, page of 36/36B with 8 singles, two pairs and two singles on cover to Scotland, three pages of #63 filled with proofs, trial color proofs, an essay and a specimen, nice shades, a couple strips of three, and several lovely covers, five pages of #64B/65, the first page with some nice candidates for the premium shade, #65 mint block of four, specimen and proof and stamps with fancy cancels, page of #67 with seven singles, some with better cancels and single on cover, a couple pages of #68 with a couple dozen singles, one with row of double perforations a strip of three, a couple pages and three singles on covers, page of #69 with a dozen single, a pair and a pair on cover, a couple pages of #70/78 containing 20 singles with a potential steel blue and three covers with singles, one with 3¢ pair, page of #71 with a couple dozen stamps, a couple of which are proofs and a specimen, some with red cancels and one pair and a single on cover, page of #72 with 14 singles, one of which has APS certificate, five pages of #73 with many singles, several proofs including a couple trial color proofs, eight covers franked with singles or pairs, one cover with a potential bisect, page of #76 with eight singles, a couple proofs and a specimen and a cover to France with 5¢ and 10c, a page of #77 with four singles and two singles on cover, page with #93 with three singles and single on cover, page with 96/97 with #96 three singles and pair on cover, #97 on cover, page of #98 with seven singles and single on cover, 100 (4), four pages of 1869 pictorial issue with 112 single on cover, 116 (18 singles), 118 (3, one with APS certificate), 120 (2), 121, more than a couple dozen pages of various banknote issues with many fancy cancels, 134 single on cover, 149 (2), 151 (4), 153 (3), 154, 155 (2), 160, 162, 165 (2), 166 (2), 190 and three pages of various denominations of 1890 issue with single and cover varities, generally Fine to Very Fine appearance. 2003   imageRegular Issue and Commemorative Collection, 1846-1991, with stamps mounted into Scott National album. This collection aimed to only collect mint stamps, but it becomes obvious that the collector occasionally purchased altered or fake stamps that mimic their expensive counterparts. We tried our best to list the highlights correctly, but you should use your own discretion about the authenticity of the stamps in this collection while evaluating. Obvious used stamps are described as such and questionable stamps were not highlighted. That being said, there are many stamps with higher Scott value that quickly add up to a stustantial total value.
