A image1918, 3¢ violet, type II, 37¢ violet on sage booklet (Scott BK63 var.), complete and unexploded, comprising two panes of six (#502b), position A, the cover with barred handstamp in purple applied over "37¢", o.g., never hinged, but some gum disturbance, scarce and unusual example of this devalued booklet, Fine to Very Fine.


In 1919, the rate reverted to two cents. Postmasters were instructed to remove the 3-cent stamps from the booklets and to place the stamps on sale as needed. Nevertheless, one postmaster, believed to be in Springfield, Illinois, devalued a number of booklets and sold these at the face value of "36¢".
