JY 21 1958" double circle with emblem and slogan hand roller cancel (Gaines R.1; page 570) on unsealed legal sized cover with printed corner card for International Publications Inc. to the Editor in Chief of De Rotterdammer in The Netherlands, purple "VIA AIR MAIL" handstamp at bottom left, Very Fine, According to the Gaines catalog (p. 290; summarized and quoted), the Prussian Blue variety resulted from a lack of vermilion red ink when De la Rue prepared the fifth printing. "Approximately 100 panes of 50 are estimated to have been sold. There are a number of color varieties on all printings of C3 which could be confused with the error by an inexperienced collector. Date ………." handstamps with magenta ink "NOT" written to left of "Approved By:" and signed "D Hampton(?) and dated "23/5/68" in the same magenta ink; "C" with stray ink on front, still an Extremely Fine trio, unlisted in Scott and Gaines (who died in 1998; five years before the UN Archives were sold at auction), "A" is Unique, ex-United Nations Archives lots 3766 ("B"), 3767 ("C") and 3768 ("A") which sold for $200, $250 and 250 hammer each.
