Lot 4009 - 1851, 1¢ blue, type I (Scott 5), position 7R1E, lovely example with near-complete ornaments; black Mobile, Ala postmark; small corner crease at top left, light horizontal crease at bottom, otherwise Very Fine, Siegel Census #5-CAN-037, ex Argentum, with 1950 P.F. and 2023 Crowe certificates.

The 1¢ 1851 Franklin, was the mainstay of postage use until 1861. Printed from 200-subject steel plates numbered 1 through 5 and 7 through 12, with the Plate....Estimate $30,000-40,000 Sold for US$ 24,000
