118 cover   imageCharles M. Willard, Ludlow Mass. Printed Circular Advertising E.S. Zeverly (sic) Post Office Stamps engraved on wood, to postmaster at Hermitage VA, an outstanding printed circular, page one begins with testimonials from three Assistant Postmaster Generals and illustrates a "set of (hand)stamps", page two and the top half of page 3 advertise "The Complete Post Office Manual, No. 4" with a description and testimonials, and the bottom half of page 3 lists the prices and a "P.S." that reads, "I have heretofore had no connection with Mr. Zeverly (sic) other than to give a notice of his stamps..." red "Ludlow Mass. Mar. 3 PAID" handstamp, overall toning and tiny blue pen mark on page 1, still, Very Fine, and extremely scarce, we suspect this was purchased by the consignor in Frajola sale 15 (Nov. 24, 1984) lot 34, ex-Lippman. 119 cover   imageHandpainted Cartoon-style illustrated covers, a gorgeous set of four covers by Los Angeles artist Bill Hussey, mailed between April and July of 1946; all-over designs with characters' "speech bubbles" referring to the addressee; three of the covers feature an older man in a "Top Hat & Tails"—apparently the artist/sender—and three also feature Donald Duck (one is on the back); all are franked with a 3¢ Prexie with the perforations trimmed off. also includes a typed letter on a hand-illustrated letterhead (Jul '46) and an illustrated card sent as an enclosure (Aug '46).
