1304 15L18 imageBlood & Co., 1855 (1¢) black, Outstanding Collection of 50 Covers (Scott 15L18), neatly arranged in two Lighthouse cover albums, with each item identified and priced; the first binder is arranged chronologically between 1858 and 1861, the second by destination outside of Philadelphia, with Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia (including several to pre-state West Virginia towns of Berkeley Springs and Charlestown), and Missouri; note several blind-embossed corner card covers, blue c.d.s. and black octagonal Philadelphia postmarks, several varieties of Blood's Despatch postmarks, the non-local uses accompanied by 3¢ Washington adhesive (one from 1851 Issue) or on 3¢ entires; the usual condition issues apply to covers of this period, but a lovely specialized holding perfect for expansion or onward sales; marked retail of $14,000.
