Cover and letter discussed and illustrated in Jon Krupnick's book "Pan American's Pacific Pioneers, The Rest of the Story", p. 216, Krupnick writes, "The VIPs on their return flight (of the Hawaiian Clipper), arrived at Guam on October 25, 1936. For several days, the weather prevented them from flying on to Wake. While they were on Guam, the westbound Hawaii Clipper with the first revenue passenger also arrived….(Carter's) letter … was mailed too late to be placed on his flight home from Guam, so it remained on the island until the inbound return flight of the first revenue passengers returned from Manila to Guam. Carter's letter reached San Francisco on Nov. 4, 1936, two days after his return on the Philippine Clipper. Therefore, his letter is a unique souvenir of both the VIP Flight and the first revenue passenger flight."
